Jim Dennis & Susan Thompson join Simkins

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Jim Dennis and Susan Thompson to Simkins as partners.

Jim has joined as an Intellectual Property Partner in the Dispute Resolution Group. He is an IP litigator specialising in brands and has extensive experience in the fields of trade mark and copyright litigation, as well as trade mark prosecution. Jim has advised many high profile clients such as KPMG and Rude Health on their IP matters. His background in contentious trade mark matters (litigation and oppositions) coupled with extensive experience in trade mark prosecution work has given Jim an unrivalled 360 degree perspective on brands and the issues faced by their owner, as well as a strong tactical expertise which enables his clients to succeed in the face of adversity. Jim was previously a partner at Davenport Lyons (now Gordon Dadds).

Jim commented: “Simkins is a market leader in the media and IP space, with many outstanding City-trained lawyers who have a deep understanding of IP issues. I am proud to introduce my clients to the firm and I’m looking forward to helping Simkins’ clients protect and exploit their IP.”

Susan is a highly experienced Employment Partner working with both employers and senior individuals in all areas of employment law (including Partnership disputes). Susan has represented many high-profile private and corporate clients that include The Prince’s Trust, Vinci plc & BMI Healthcare, as well as a number of senior executives.

Susan is currently recommended in the Legal 500 and has been named as an expert in employment law every year since 1995 in Legal Experts. She was also named as a Top 100 Lawyer and Top 50 Women Solicitors in 2014 by London Super Lawyers magazine.  Susan joins us from Magrath LLP.

Susan said today: “I am very excited to join Simkins, one of the premier commercial law firms in the West End. It is an ideal firm to provide a multi-disciplinary offering to my clients and the breadth of the employment team will ensure Simkins can continue to offer sound and practical advice to all our clients.”

Simkins’ Managing Partner, Euan Lawson, commented: “Jim and Susan’s joining us is part of our continued commitment in ensuring that we provide a strong broad client service. Both Jim and Susan’s practices will help broaden further our client base, and their reputation in their particular fields adds a further dimension to what we can offer clients across many different sectors.”
