Reddit fined £14m for data protection failings

Associate Stephen Cartwright examines the ICO's decision to impose a £14.47m fine on Reddit for unlawfully using children's personal information, and considers what this reveals about the regulator’s enforcement stance, in Law360.
"Today’s decision underlines how seriously the regulator views failures to protect children online.
"Platforms cannot simply rely on self‑declared ages or weak assurance measures. The expectation now is clear: if children are likely to be using your service, their personal data must be safeguarded with appropriate, robust, and effective protections."
