Simkins LLP is a leading media and commercial law firm, offering a full range of legal services to corporate and individual clients operating in a broad range of industries.

We are growing and we are recruiting committed and bright people with an interest in culture, media and sports who want to be part of a dynamic and ambitious team, whether they are lawyers or IT, finance or support staff.

We are interested in the personal and professional development of every member of our firm, and we are committed to training and mentoring at all levels.

Vacancy: Commercial Associate, +5 PQE

We are currently looking to recruit an Associate for our Commercial Group.

Candidates are likely to have at least 5 years post-qualification experience – but will certainly require the ability to handle, unsupervised, the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts.

Our Associates are expected to work in a range of industry sectors and for a variety of different types of client (including corporates, entertainers, entrepreneurs, producers and high-profile executives). Successful candidates will therefore have a flexible, commercial approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to the highest client service standards.

Although the successful candidate will be expected to undertake work for a range of clients, this particular role is focussed on servicing one of the firm’s major advertising clients. This particular aspect of the role will involve drafting and negotiating services agreements (including global framework master services arrangements), media-buying agreements, procurement agreements, IP licences and other general commercial agreements for a wide variety of businesses within the client group; it will also involve advisory work on data protection, IP rights, contract law (including issues of interpretation and termination).

The rest of our client base is traditionally (though not exclusively) in the media and entertainment sector, and a knowledge of this sector would assist, although it is by no means essential.   More important is a good understanding of IP rights, including in particular copyright and trade marks, and data protection law.

Successful candidates will have a good academic record and a proven track record in handling a wide variety of commercial documents.  They must also demonstrate a commitment to high levels of client service, an ability to turn documents and advice quickly and efficiently, and the flexibility to deliver work product to tight deadlines.  Both an eye for detail and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving is essential.

Remuneration will be at West-End market rates, depending on experience.
